Frequently Asked Questions

Let's clarify some frequently asked questions and set your mind at ease to book your first session

What kind of reasons do people book an appointment?

People seek support for all kinds of reasons, it may be a life change, work challenges, a sudden life event, past trauma, support with unique experiences, relationship challenges, or support for their teen.

What is the cost?

Up to date pricing can be accessed through my booking system.

Unfortunately, at the moment psychotherapy is not eligible for Medicare rebates through a mental health care plan. However, psychotherapy or counselling may end up more affordable option when considering out of pocket expenses for psychologists.

It also does mean you have control over your own therapy journey without the structure of MHCP.

  1. No referral needed - book as soon as you like

  2. Attend as many sessions as you want/need

  3. No diagnosis is required

What is the first session like?

My aim is for our first meeting to be as relaxed as possible.  I want us to feel comfortable in getting to know each other. I will ask some background information and why you (and potentially your partner/teen) have sought support. We will go at your own pace.

Parents: It is recommended if possible that you attend the first session to support your teen in getting to know me, however I understand work/life balance can be a challenge, reach out and let's discuss further.

Couples: I understand relationship counselling can be daunting and one partner may be resistant to attending. If you would like to attend alone for the first session that is ok, it might path the way for a joint session.

What if I don't know why? Or am unable to put into words?

Therapy is a collaboration between us, I will support you to uncover any patterns or issues which may help. I am here to support you each step of the way, you don't need to have all the answers.

How many sessions do I need?

Therapy is a personal journey for each person, couple or family, so the number varies. I would suggest securing 10 sessions weekly or fortnightly which can be shortened or lengthened at any time.

Can I get a diagnosis with you?

No, I am unable to formally diagnose you. However, I am trained in the DSM-5 and able to refer you for formal diagnosis if you want/need.
